This character is Trevor Polly, Chief Executive of North Down Borough Council.

He enjoys portraying this Council at home and abroad as the Christian, clean living and moral face of North Down’s Gold Coast, ‘a Walt Disney Borough, the place to live, work and be happy’.

In reality government records confirm North Down Borough Council are actually at the forefront of hatred, bigotry and discrimination.

Recently this Council has paid out £15,000.00 in settlements to various members of staff in cases upheld by the Equality Commission (see www.equalityni.org).

Prior to that, one gentleman employee won a landmark case (ref 61/90FairEmploymentTribunal) in which the judges stated “that after suffering hurt, anxiety and insult at the hands of North Down Borough Council purely for his religious belief he be awarded Exemplary Damages”.

The Tribunal unanimously decided this gentleman had been discriminated against unlawfully and commented they ‘were not impressed with North Down Borough Council’s contradictory evidence’ and also the fact that paperwork went ‘missing for two years’.

Also, the Council ‘did not follow the requirements of the code of practise, despite promising to do so’.

Some citizens from our American Virginia Beach exchange program are believed to have voiced concerns at having any affiliation with this Council, and may vote to reject having any further social contact, until those responsible are held to account.

One resident has described them as being an extreme right wing group, not unlike the Klu Klux Klan.

Quoting “ A plague of bigotry of epidemic proportion is sweeping this Councils workplace, the ferocity of discrimination is unprecedented, the only thing missing is the ritual butchering of job candidates.

Discrimination is a criminal offence, why has this Council refused to call in the PSNI to investigate and prosecute those responsible?

How much of ratepayer’s money have been squandered fighting these (and other) indefensible lawsuits, and how much more has been spent in out of court settlements?

Remember these bigots are still active and working in the higher echelons of this Council.
