SURVIVAL GUIDE.

When meeting any Chief Executive, Council officer or Councillor

Always take the following precautions: -

1)    Have a witness. (Reason) in case your recollection differs from       theirs.

2)    Never feel threatened or bullied. (No-matter who or what they think they are, remember to always inform them they that they are Public Servants.)

3)    Take your time-never be rushed. If you do not understand        something, ask for it to be re-explained.

4)    A camera-ask a witness to take a date stamped photo of yourself standing beside the person you are meeting. (It has been noted on one occasion of a meeting attended by no less than 3 businessmen, that a Director of Corporate Services John Thompson claimed that a meeting never took place). The camera is also a valuable tool in case a document disappears from the file.

5)    To-days newspaper. To place under the document(s) being photographed to prove incontrovertibly that it existed on the day.

6)    An ultra violet pen when viewing files. Reason to sign the obverse of any important document in case a substitute reappears on the file.

7)     A mini tape recorder. If possible record all meetings especially ones that you have been Minutes will be taken of. Past history have proven that Minutes have been lost, rewritten or copies being refused for viewing. (See Ken Dodd Web investigation)
